About Us

The Home was founded by the MOTHWA (Memorable Order for the Tin Hats Woman’s Auxiliary), a non-profit organization which opened its doors in 1969.

Mothwa Haven is a registered Old age home which accommodates 80 frail and semi-frail older persons. Mothwa Haven offers respite care (Subject to availability) for families who require short term assistance in caring for their loved ones. Mothwa Haven provides a safe and secure homely environment with 24-hour nursing care available to look after the elderly, 3 nutritional meals per day, Laundry and Cleaning services included.

​​Mothwa Haven has single, Semi-private and double rooms available. All ablutions is communal and rooms have hand basins and electrical power points.There is an activity Programme each month to keep our resident entertained. This programme includes special events to celebrate occasions and include sing along, movies and other playful activities. A Library is also available for the residents should they be interested in reading a good book.

The Haven also has the following Facilities available which is not included in the Monthly tariff. There is a Salon is available onsite and fully equipped and available twice a week. a beautiful Chapel is available for services of various denominations where weekly services are held.

Our Objectives

Assisting the Memorable Order of Tin Hats socially and in their benevolent activities in the interest of Service and Ex-servicemen/women and their dependants.
To erect and maintain Homes for the Aged and to provide accommodation, meals, nursing or other amenities and to assist indigent persons.
The Organisation shall work towards and assist in the benevolent activities of any Organisation devoted to the relief of the indigent aged and suffering to any section of the community as long as the basic principles of the M.O.T.H. and M.O.T.H.W.A. are strictly adhered to, and provided that such activities do not contravene the Rules and Regulations of the NON PROFIT ORGANISATION ACT.

  • Being non-political, neither as a body nor individually may the members act or work in such a way as to involve the name of the Auxiliary or the M.O.T.H. Order.
  • Area of Operation

    • The Organisation shall collect contributions in their AREA OF OPERATION and shall conduct business within the Republic of South Africa.
