I am a Speech- language therapist involved in assessing, diagnosing and treating acquired speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in adults.  I have a special interest in neurology which includes but is not limited to traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease etc. Communication and swallowing is an integral part of a person’s daily life, and the loss of it has a tremendous impact on the person’s ability to maintain and build relationships, reintegrate into the community and work place, as well as affecting social interactions and life at home.

I have completed my studies at the University of Pretoria and worked in the public health setting for two years.  I have experience working with patients in the acute hospital setting and rehabilitation since 2007.  As a therapist closely involved with patients and families whose lives have been impacted by stroke and traumatic brain injury, one realise how difficult it is to navigate their way forward.  I have been closely involved as a manager and therapist with a non-profit organisation, BrainLife, supporting families affected by brain injury.

I am currently practicing as a rehabilitation therapist at Medstep and also see outpatients, including home visits where possible.
